Just kidding. New games, new deals, and news: Uncharted 4, Mortal Kombat X, and Metal Gear Solid V.

New Releases – Sept 15

NHL 16 (PS4, Xbox One) – EA’s annual NHL game is back for a new season, and thankfully fuller than last years bare bones edition. Online Team Play has returned, and EA has bolstered the Be A Pro mode. A new training mode is also available, as a new feature to catch new fans up to speed. NHL is an annual pick-up for me so expect some more impressions.

Forza Motorsport 6 (Xbox One) – Microsoft’s big simulation is back in a big way. 24 opponent races, rain and water physics and night-time races. The career still feels like a checklist and needs an overhaul, but the game is as gorgeous as ever with 1080p 60fps races.

Grand Theft Auto V Online – Freeworld Events (PC, Xbox One, PS4) – Today marks the new Online update. This has me interested in stepping back into the GTA world, and I already own the game.

Destiny: The Taken King (Xbox One, PS4) – The big 2.0 addition is finally here now, with actual story-telling, new missions, a new raid, new weapons, new playable area, new player sub-classes. All the things that will change Destiny is a big way. I’ll be jumping in tonight to transfer everything over  and check it out. Check out future impressions in the weeks to come.

Some newsy type stuff:

Uncharted 4 – Uncharted 4: The Thief’s End will be released on March 18th, 2016. Sept 29th will mark the release of The Nathan Drake Collection on the PS4, remastering 1-3 into one nice package, and to catch everyone up on the series before 4’s release. Uncharted is a great series and one of the real reasons to own a PS3/PS4.

Mortal Kombat X – NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that it is still working on DLC for Mortal Kombat X. This includes new playable characters, skins and a new stage, due out in the first half of 2016.

Metal Gear Solid V – Konami has confirmed it has fixed the bug that plagued the game on all platforms, causing saved games to become corrupt when Quiet was brought along as a buddy on either Mission 29 or 42. The fix is available on the PS4 and PC, and will hopefully be coming to all platforms soon.

///

This week I will continue to plug away through Metal Gear Solid V and will be jumping back into Destiny: The Taken King. I’ll be leaving my impressions of both, and possibly even writing another story, this one set in MGS V land. The game just lends itself to so many awesome encounters and creative experiences. I’ll also be picking up NHL and I know I’ll be dumping a ton of time into that, maybe even doing my first NHL review. And lastly, GTA V’s Online is calling.

This week’s Preview will focus on one of those games, and the What i’M playing feature will definitely be more MGS V. This is an exciting week to say the least.

IDL News – Xbox Ultimate Game Sale, WWE, and Mortal Kombat X

Summer. What is it good for?

Super Hero Movies? Bugs? Forest Fires? Encouragement to sit inside and play games, thanks to the Xbox Ultimate Summer Sale?

batgirl-720x720Batman Arkham Knight First DLC
Warner Bros
has announced that the first story driven DLC for Batman Arkham Knight will be Batgirl: A Matter of Family. Available on July 14th for season pass holders and a week later for the rest.

The DLC takes place after the events of the main game, and allows the players to play as Batgirl, in an all new location, and will include multiple missions, side quests and secrets.

Mortal Kombat X Updates
Warner Bros
has revealed new details regarding Mortal Kombat and its new updates. The Predator character will be made available tomorrow as part of a DLC bundle, which also includes 3 new skins: Commando Johnny, Infrared Scorpion and Carl Weathers as Jax. Available tomorrow for those who have the season pass, or $7.99 on July 14th.

Predator will be made available on his own on July 14th for $4.99.

Warner Bros also announced the Klassic Fatality Pack. For free. Four classic fatalities from Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonja and Johnny Cage.

WWE_2K16_FOB_AGNOSTIC_ENG-720x1018WWE 2K16’s Cover
2K
has revealed today that the cover star for this year’s WWE game, will be Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Over the weekend, 2K had some problems with their digital WWE 2K15 as it was accidentally removed from the Xbox marketplace. Normally, no real problem, besides a potential loss of sales, but the removal caused the game to fail to start for all the current digital owners of the game. Issues lasted about 4 days.

Xbox’s Ultimate Game Sale
Microsoft has lifted the lid slightly, on its upcoming Xbox Ultimate Games Sale. The sale kicks off tomorrow, July 7.

The sale will discount over 70 different titles by 40-50 percent. Plus those with Xbox Live Gold will be able to save an additional 10%.

Featured titles on the Xbox One include: Mortal Kombat X, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, among others

Featured titles on the Xbox 360 include: Injustice: Gods Among Us and The Orange Box. More info will be made available tomorrow.

Some news on my front:

Extra Life 2015 campaign is going strong. To date, the charity has raised almost $500,000 which is double what was raised by this time last year. The big day is coming up in November, so I’ll have new info leading into that. The Extra Life team has joined with Ubisoft to help promote Rainbow Six Siege. Starting July 1st, 2015, anyone who donates $6 or more will receive a Guaranteed Access code to the Rainbow Six Siege Closed Beta. Beta Starts Sept 24th. I’ll be adding more info the Extra Life page as the event draws closer.

Started my playthrough of Batman Arkham Knight this weekend past, and boy, is it incredible. Very streamlined with some minor changes. But it is gorgeous to look at and play. I only noticed slight stuttering when driving the Batmobile at a few intersections, but otherwise very smooth. I’ll be leaving my thorough first impressions on Thursday.

Arkham-Knight

I’ve also been dabbling in Evolve and TitanFall again. Now that TitanFall has been added to the EA Access subscription, it’s received some new life. And I’ve completed The Crew’s campaign so I’ll be writing a review for that in the near future.

Tomorrow is new games and news, when we get to see the first batch of games in the Xbox Summer Sale.

Stay tuned.

NEWS – New Games: News of the Week Edition

Ahh, that new video game smell . . . mmm.

Today in the news we talk about Xbox’s Deals of the Week, Mortal Kombat X, and Star Wars Battlefront.

And of course, the new video games released this week, notably one that frustrates me. I’ll give you a hint:

One does not simply NOT play Shadow of Mordor

One does not simply play Shadow of Mordor

Mortal Kombat Reinforces “M” Rating
Today, to celebrate the new DLC character, Jason Voorhees, WB Interactive and NetherRealm has posted the DLC trailer, and yep . . . it’s um . . . bloody.

Star Wars Battlefront Multiplayer Maps
EA
and Dice have now confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront will include 12 multiplayer maps at launch, and 2 more have been announced so far as DLC.

This Week’s Xbox Deal With Gold
On the Xbox One:

  • Far Cry 4 & Season Pass
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity

On the Xbox 360

I think I’ll definitely be picking up Assassin’s Creed Unity while it’s on sale, and I think I’ll pick up the Bioshock Infinite Burial at Sea DLC as well, as I missed it during my first play through. I think Infinite alone requires a second play through as it’s a fantastic game. Yep. Add it to the queue.

Onto to the new games this week:

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (Xbox One, PS4, PC) – The Old Blood is a two-part standalone prequel to the incredible Wolfenstein: The New Order, featuring the hero – B.J Blazkowicz. The game is released digital only. I’m excited.

wolfenstein-the-old-blood

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor – GOTY (Xbox One, PS4) – This release kind of bugs me, only because I haven’t had the chance to play it yet, as I’ve been waiting now for over 6 months. And now the Game of the Year edition is released with all the DLC, for the same price I originally paid for it. I do, however, intend to get to this game sooner rather than later. Procrastination has worked against me? WHAT?

Forfeit your money.

Forfeit your money.

Game of the Year edition includes additional story missions, additional challenge series, and skins. I do believe that the photo mode is a free update, so I’m excited about that :).

Lately I’ve been playing some games on Twitch, and you’re welcome to come hang out – www.twitch.tv/irogans.

I recently wrapped up Goat Simulator (and by that I mean I unlocked most of the achievements) and Sniper Elite III, and I’m currently playing through Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China (and loving the art style), Far Cry 4 (and getting tired of the repetition), and Battlefield Hardline (and feeling frustrated towards the lack of time I have to dedicate to it).

I’ll discuss these a little more in detail on Thursday, and new games in the queue. And then an iReview will be up for Sniper Elite III on Friday. The “i” stands for irrelevant.

NEWS – Games Tuesday (The Title Almost Works ;) )

You all have your monies out, and your beefy machines, NVidia Titan X cards, and 4K monitors ready? GTA V PC edition released today.

Does anything else really matter, then?

Mortal Kombat X (PS4, Xbox One, PC) – Besides GTA V’s inevitable, but oft delayed, PC release, Mortal Kombat X is probably the biggest game of note to be released. We’ve been reading a lot about it, as the hype engine is out in force. System of  Down is behind it, or at least their music is used heavily in the trailers. The gameplay looks as gory and disgusting as ever.

You can check the trailer below (w/ System of a Down :3)

Apparently there’s a story? Who knew? Nothing will beat the E3 Announcement Trailer. Nothing.

Tower of Guns (PS4, PS3, Xbox One) – Tower of Guns is an arcade FPS with no story. Just random generated levels, and lots of guns, enemies, massive battle bosses, and obviously lots of bullets. Just a classic type of arcade shooter filled with mechanical mayhem.

oh, I almost forgot…

Grand Theft Auto V (PC) – All the delay jokes aside, patience pays off:

"Now Go! I Need To Meditate."

“Now Go! I Need To Meditate.”

NEWS – New Games Tuesday and the Rest

Let’s get this quiet day going with some new releases, which there are few.

  • MLB The Show 15 and R.B.I Baseball 15 (Xbox One, PS4, PS3) – Yeah….baseball….
  • Neverwinter (Xbox One) – MMORPG originally released on the PC in 2013, this game has made its way to the console. The game is free-to-play.
Yup...nope.

Yup…nope.

Yup. See?

The Witcher III is Looong

CD Projekt RED has announced today that that The Witcher III is going to be a lengthy game is you wish to do Everything. Approx 200+ hours. It’s a game where the designers wanted to make an open-world game without boundries. No wonder the game will be a 50GB install.

These creatures are probably tougher than the Honey Badger in Far Cry 3.

These creatures are probably tougher than the Honey Badger in Far Cry 3. Fire is always a sound tactic though.

Star Wars: Battlefront

DICE will debut the Star Wars: Battlefront official reveal trailer during its Star Wars Celebration panel on April 17th. Very excited about this news.

Playstation Plus April Games

Following up the Games with Gold for April, Playstation’s Plus subscribers will get Tower of Guns, and Aaru’s Awakening on both PS3 and PS4. Never Alone, which I’ve Reviewed on the Xbox One is available on the PS4, and Dishonored is available on the PS3.

Mortal Kombat X Still Wont Cross Some Lines

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has revealed, contrary to popular belief, there are certain things the team consider too violent to put into the finished product. After watching some of the fatalities from the up-coming game, I’d beg to differ. Some of those are pretty nasty. Maybe in some cases they’ve gone to far already.

Which Lines Won't They Cross, I Wonder?

Xbox Deals with Gold Weekly Discounts

Dragon Age: Inquisition has been given a 50% discount. This game seems discounted weekly, in some form or another. Diablo III Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition is discounted, as well as FIFA 15. Several LEGO games are on sale as well.

All for this evening. See you tomorrow. I’ll have lots to talk about in Far Cry 4.

Go Outside.
