She’s a Demon Hunter? – Art House

Comics Talk might be a little bit more in-depth to tackle tonight (I wanted to reserve comic talk for Wednesday, but that’s also co-op game night…. hmm a conflict) Anyways, here’s a few drawings I’ve been working on over the past 6 months. Warning: this will be an image-heavy post.

Last post in February I finished the art section with K-Pop Demon Hunters’ Rumi. My regret is I haven’t made much progress on this trio. I’ve started inking Zoey, and started colouring Rumi, but haven’t made any additional progress on Mira. I hope to work on this group a bit more before the end of the year. Leaving drawing incomplete is a real bummer. But burnout is also a thing.

Next up is one of my favourite characters to draw recently, and I’m currently reading the comic series. Queen in Black. Hela. This first attempt I went all-in, and completed it right through to becoming a poster for the wall.

First was just the idea in my head, and completed in one night. But I knew at this point it needed to be a fully realized pin-up.

So next up is the progress steps, between pencil, ink, flats. And then finally finished colour.

After Hela I got the urge to draw Absolute Zatanna Zatarra from the Absolute Wonder Woman comic. From Sketch to Inks. To full colour. This one was a lot of fun.

Still had the urge for more Hela, Queen in Black:

Next up, Magik. Wasn’t entirely happy with this quick output, but it quenched the urges to draw on that night, and Magik is always a fun one to draw. Overall not bad, but the pose is intended to be her bracing against her sword – but it didn’t really land.

After this I was really getting in the game Dispatch, which I mentioned in the last post, and worked on a few of the characters. Hopefully will find the time to do some more. But for now, Blonde Blazer and Invisigal. For Invisigal, I had a few ideas for how I would illustrate the invisibility. Ended up just removing the colour instead to show the background gradient. But kept blue lines to convey the invisibility. Turned out kinda neat.

Some more heroes and villains next. First Wonder Woman. I was inspired by a minimalist silhouette drawing that I’d seen, very little details, dark stormy night. I wanted to try and recreate it myself. Lines, shading, and then some effects and colour. Very happy with the results. Went ’till 2am though, that night.

Some Harley Quinn is always fun to draw, with her many different costume suits. For the Harley Bat, I had some inspiration with Harley surrounded by zombies. Maybe reading too much of The Walking Dead. So I wanted to do a mash-up/crossover with Harley and Lucille and zombies. Cal it the Laughing Dead. Didn’t get to fully realize it as I got lazy and didn’t want to draw a bunch of zombies. But I still have the sketch saved somewhere, in the event I want to pick it up again. Maybe if I can find a Walking Dead blank cover, I could do something.

Watched Supergirl over the summer. Yes I enjoyed it. Milly is great. Lobo was a lot of fun. Layers and then the completed picture. The flats might make a good canvas block.

Last up, Cyberpunk’s Lucy, from Edgerunners. Looking forward to season 2 of the show. Not entirely happy with the drawing. But it was still a fun challenge, trying to create an anime character in my style.

And then as per tradition, we have my annual #faceyourart. The challenge where you are supposed to post only the faces from your drawings. Here’s the last 12 months of faces (Aug 2025 – Aug 2026) which includes last year’s drawtober submissions:

While I mostly work digitally, I do like to display my art through different mediums. Such as posters on my wall or the art blocks. Earlier this year I saw these cool magnet 8×6 frames that can stand on their own, and thought it would be cool to gets some prints made and display some art on my desk, or shelf, or wherever. Here’s a few examples. I only got the package of 3 frames for now as a test. But I made about 40 different 8×6 prints and I can swap them around as needed.

Drawtober 2026 is just around the corner, so next week I might start thinking about my plans.

That catches us up to current. Next post I’ll have more comic book news. What I’m currently reading, week to week. Maybe some collection stats. What’s up-coming. Also I went to Fan Expo back in Feb, and I’ll share some of my photos from that event and the artists/writers I met and work I got signed. It was a lot of fun.

G’night.
